 Bill Marrett is a counselor and psychotherapist serving individiuals, couples, families and groups.  He operates a private practice, Marrett Counseling Service in Louisville, Ky.  In his work, Bill focuses on the emotional, relational, spiritual and developmental concerns that have emerged in a person's life from their experiences, and within the situations and challenges that they are facing in life.
 
Because most people recognize various spiritual implications of their concerns, Bill aims to assist his clients in deepening their spiritual beliefs and convictions by utilizing a Christian biblical worldview and a Christ-centered relational approach to empowering them to make changes as needed to build up faith hope and love - in order to live effectively with serenity, integrity and courage in all their circumstances and relationships.
 
Bill also provides consultation, training and supervision to Marriage and Family Therapist Associates, Trainees and faith-based lay counselors.
 
Education:
Bill attended Young Harris College in Northeast Georgia and graduated with an Associate of Science degree in 1973; then studied at the University of Georgia through 1974.  Bill continued his undergraduate work at the University of Louisville from 1976 to 1980; and during that time Bill started a construction business which he operated until 2005.  Bill completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Louisville, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2003, in order to enter Southern Seminary's clinically oriented Pastoral Counseling program in 2004.  Bill graduated with a Masters of Divinty in Pastoral Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2006, and began his counseling practice as a Marriage and Family Therapist in 2007; and later becoming a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor as well.
 
Bill has completed 120 hours of Practitioner Level Training in Neuro-Linguistic Programing (NLP).  He continues NLP studies and its therapeutic applications through an Ericksonian Hyponsis approach to the therapeutic use of trance for assisting and promoting therapeutic change.  Bill is also exploring contemporary brain science research related to emotional, relational, behavioral and spiritual therapeutic change, especially through the emerging discipline of Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB). He is trained as an EMDR Therapist, is certified as an Anger Management Specialist-I, and has completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
